My name is James Barrie and TapWorks is a business I have established that specialises in regular cleaning of draught beer systems.

I have been working in the hospitality industry in and around Sydney for just on 20 years now most of which has been involved with setting up bars and running the cellars for a variety of bars and clubs.

The majority of this time was spent setting up and running bars/cellars for the Merivale Group namely Hotel CBD, Slip Inn, Establishment, Angel Hotel, The Grand Hotel and lastly The Beresford Hotel. By the end of my 17-year tenure with the company I was the “go-to” contact for any draught beer issues within the group.

Lately I held down the position of Group Cellar-Man for the Balmain Pub Group (BPG) and maintained all 4 of their venues draught beer system along with a few others.

In doing so I have gained a wealth of knowledge of different draught beer systems and I have acquired a passion for this part of the industry, which has naturally led me to establish TapWorks.

I take great pride in maintaining a level of personalised service that is only acquired with owner-operator small business.

Scope Of Works

Initial assessment: (Free)

  • Beer pour test.
  • Test cool room temp and ascertain correct gas pressure matching
  • Glycol test of the chiller tank
  • Examination of system condition – taps, couplers, transfer leads, glycol pumps, gas lines and connections.
  • OH&S compliance and signage.

Bi Weekly beer line Clean: (Costing’s below)

  • Flow back if required
  • Flush system with clean water
  • Run industry standard detergent through the lines and leave for 2 hours
  • Soak all keg couplers in industry standard detergent
  • Flush 15L of fresh water through each line till no trace of chemicals is revealed on litmus paper
  • Reconnect beer and run through the lines and test temperature.
  • Do a glycol test on the chiller tank and top-up if required 
  • Test and tighten all gas connections and pin valves on couplers
  • Contract will also include a 4 monthly (or more-regular – trade dependent) recondition of all beer taps and keg couplers – disassemble, clean, change all O-rings, re-grease and reassemble. Parts not included
  • Any small handyman jobs while on site – time dependent.
  • System contract comes with quarterly recondition of all couplers and taps labour free

Average Sized Venue; (up to 16 beer lines)

  • No flow back $120 – $180 + GST
  • With flow back $160 – $260 + GST
 

Lager and Smaller venues negotiable upon inspection.

  • Business Hours extra maintenance call out Fee $75 + $60/hour
  • After Hours extra maintenance call out Fee $150 + $100/hr
